hi! so i am remodeling an old room in my house to turn it into my room and study area, as im a med student and need the privacy and focus.
so, this room used to be my grandpa’s, but he sadly passed away 5 years ago. i know he wouldn’t mind me taking over his room, as he always told me to do whatever it takes to get a degree. so that gives me comfort :,)
anyways, the room is very “vintage”….. it has very dark and opaque wood floors, dark wood furniture in all the different shades of wood. The walls are beige.
Also, the layout is terrible; there si a door leaidng into the room from the hallway, and another door leading into another room. So people going by constantly. Also, a big window that opens into a patio. That’s the only window.
Also, in the room there is two big dressers (marked with an X in the picture) that i cannot move.
Also, my desk is HUGE. I can’t change it as i need the space for all my books and anatomy figurines. Bed is tiny, and white! Everything is else is brown, so its odd a random piece of white.
Also, there is a display shelving unit with lots of dolls. I was thinking covering the inside with a nice see through white curtain.
anyways, my question is, how to make it feel cleaner, fresher, newer? Something just feels off…. With the decor or the fact that everything is so opaque and dark. What could i do? I really can’t paint much. Also, how to make study area more feng shui and more separated from the fact my room is a hallway and my family goes through.
